Knights solidify hold on playoff spot by beating Concordia, 74-61

The Knights beat Concordia College, 74-61, on Saturday night in Flushing to break a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot. QC holds the tie-breaker between the two teams, having beaten Concordia 68-60 back on January 14th.

William Eason hit a three pointer to give Concordia a 16-13 lead eleven minutes into the game. That would be the last time QC would trail as they would run off 13 straight points, capped by a three from Mike Liander, to go ahead 26-16 with 6:47 left in the first half. Lamont Lans finished the half with 12 points to enable the Knights to go into the locker room after 20 minutes ahead 41-33.

The Knights maintained their advantage, taking a 60-47 lead on a Gerald Eugene basket with 7:43 left. Concordia rallied to close to with six on a Samuel Batista three point basket but Liander stopped the bleeding with a three pointer of his own with 3:21 remaining to seal the deal for QC.

Edil Lacayo led the Knights with 14 points while Lans finished with 13 and Khaleef Allicott added 12. The Knights are now 7-16 overall and 5-9 in conference play. Concordia, who was led by Alphonso DuHart's 15, fell to 6-19 and 4-10.
