Knights beaten at the buzzer by Adelphi, 62-60

Sky Khaleel's buzzer beater enabled Adelphi University to beat the Knights, 62-60, on Wednesday evening in Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Khaleef Allicott, who led a valiant comeback, was QC's leading scorer with 19.
Allicott gave the Knights an early 18-10 advantage but Adelphi proceded to outscore the home team 15-2 to go up 25-20 with 3:41 left in the first half. The two teams went to the locker room after 20 minutes with AU ahead, 29-25.
Adelphi started the second half strongly, opening up a double digit lead at 37-27 but Knights rallied, taking a 45-44 lead with 9:52 to go on a Mike Liander three pointer. What followed was a five point play by Adelphi which was the catalyst for an 8-0 run. Richard Byrd made a basket and was fouled by Terrell Simmons. Nana Boateng was also called for a techincal, giving Adelphi three foul shots, all of which they converted.
AU would eventually build a 58-50 lead but Khaleef Allicott hit back-to-back three pointers to pull QC within a basket with 1:19 to go. Richard Byrd and Edil Lacayo exchanged baskets before an Alvin Vivican turnover off the in bounds pass gave the ball back to the Knights with 29 seconds remaining. Allicott missed a three with seven seconds left but Simmons got the offensive board and was fouled on the play. He made two free throws with 4.2 seconds left to tie the game at 62 but Casey Cosgrove took the in bounds pass, dribbled to mid court and found Khaleel under the basket for the winning hoop as the buzzer sounded.
