Knights fall to Dominican, 76-62

The Knights fell to Dominican College, 76-62, in their opening game at the 3rd Annual Jim Clancy Tournament on Friday evening in Orangeburg, New York. Khaleef Allicott led Queens College with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Terrell Simmons gave the Knights a 17-14 lead 14:48 into the first half and Lamont Lans hit a three pointer 43 seconds later to restore their three point edge. However, Dominican answered with an 11-0 run, capped by an Abdul Salaiman basket four minutes later, to take a 28-20 lead on their way to a four point advantage at the half.

The Knights closed to within a basket at 33-31 when Mike Liander scored with 17:10 remaining in the game but Dominican outscored QC 17-4 to open up a 13 point lead and put the game out of reach.  

Edil Lacayo had 10 points and two steals and Lans added 11 points and a team high nine rebounds in the loss. Brendan McManus and Will Carty led Dominican College with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
