Queens College was beaten by Adelphi, 57-49, in Garden City on Wednesday night in one of four East Coast Conference Quarterfinal games. The loss ends the Knights 2008-09 season.

The Knights beat Concordia College, 74-61, on Saturday night in Flushing to break a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot. QC holds the tie-breaker between the two teams, having beaten Concordia 68-60 back on January 14th.

Freshman guard Edil Lacayo has been named Rookie of the Week by the East Coast Conference for his performances over the last seven days. Lacayo averaged 11.5 points in helping the Knights to a 1-1 week.

Khaleef Allicott converted two free throws with 17 second left in the third overtime to give Queens College an 80-78 win on the road over St. Thomas Aquinas College. Allicott scored 28 points on the day to lead all scorers.

Former Knights guard Bradd Wierzbicki made his professional basketball debut on Friday for the Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League (BBL). Bradd scored four points in his first game and one point on Saturday in his home debut as the Riders defeated the Guildford Heat, 82-75, in Leicester, England.

Khaleef Allicott led a furious but futile Knights rally in their 2007-2008 swan song, a 70-65 loss to Dowling in Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Queens rallied from a 21 point deficit to close to within one on a Lawrence Young three pointer with 14.5 seconds left but could get no closer.

Liander and Simmons Toasted by ECC
Junior forward Mike Liander and freshman Terrell Simmons have earned East Coast Conference basketball honors for the week ending on December 23rd. Liander was named co-Player of the Week while Simmons won the Rookie of the Week award.
