Furious late rally falls short as Knights fall to Dowling, 70-65

Khaleef Allicott led a furious but futile Knights rally in their 2007-2008 swan song, a 70-65 loss to Dowling in Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Queens rallied from a 21 point deficit to close to within one on a Lawrence Young three pointer with 14.5 seconds left but could get no closer.
Allicott scored 12 in the first half to help QC take a 28-27 lead into the second half. The Golden Lions thought they had blown the game wide open by outscoring the Knights 34-12 to open up a 61-40 lead but Allicott scored 13 points in a minute and 30 seconds to help Queens to pull within three with 25 seconds remaining. After David Seagers of DC converted on one of two free throws, Lawrence Young made a three to make the score Dowling 66, QC 65, with 14.5 left on the clock. The Knights then sent Genc Semini of Dowling to the line where he made two free throws to give his team a three point advantage. QC had a chance to tie but Lamont Lans, who was facing his brother, a junior at Dowling, missed a long ball with five seconds left. Semini then iced the game with two more from the charity stripe to complete the scoring.
Allicott finished with 32 points, six rebounds, four steals, four assists and six long balls and was the only Knight to score in double digits.
