JAMAICA, N.Y. – Queens College head women's fencing coach Greg Rupp instructed at a local fencing clinic in Jamaica, N.Y., last week, sharing his wisdom in fencing to a group of kids at the Roy Wilkins Recreation Center.
"I had an enthusiastic, smart group, who made it easy and rewarding to teach them," described Rupp. "Some demonstrated remarkable talent athletically and/or strategically, so I hope I showed them a new way to express that talent."
The free public clinic was open to children ages 8-14, and it included an introductory lesson in the timeless sport. The group learned the basic techniques and self-mastery through the art of fencing.
