FLUSHING, N.Y. - Members of the Queens College baseball team are staying game ready during the off-season by competing in several summer leagues throughout the East Coast.
Rising senior Joseph Broderick is one of several members of the Knights competing in the Hamptons League, a member of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball. In seven games, with five starts, Broderick has posted a 3-1 record in 30.2 innings of work. Broderick is joined on the squad by rising junior Billy Mclean. In 15 games, Mclean has nine hits with a home run and five runs batted in.
Rising senior Kevin Kolesar, competing for the Southampton Breakers, is hitting .333 in 27 games, with 13 runs batted in and 23 runs scored.
Another trio is representing the Knights in the Long Island Collegiate Baseball League. Rising senior Diego Gonzalez and rising junior Karl Klesin are teammates on the Long Island Storm Black. Klesin is batting .500 in seven games with seven runs scored. On June 7, he was named a LICBL weekly top performer. Rising senior Thomas Zaki has also made a relief appearance for Long Island Astros East.
