Baseball: Three Knights signed, another honored by the Long Island Ducks

Three Knights - Daniel Kupec, Jamie Quinn and Brian Honeyman - were signed to professional contracts this summer while former QC standout Justin Davies was named to the Long Island Ducks 10th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Kupec, who went 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 2008 and 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA last season with Knights, was signed to play in the NY State League, a professional development league in Westchester. From there he has gone on to pitch for the Coastal Bend (TX) Kingfish of the Continental Baseball League.

In May, Quinn and Honeyman both attended spring training for the Independent Frontier League. Honeyman, who was the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2008, was with the Washington Wild Things of Pittsburgh, PA while Quinn, now begining his second season as a coach with the Knights,  played with the Windy City ThunderBolts of Chicago, IL. Both players lasted until the end of spring training, after which Quinn signed with the Ducks as a back-up catcher for the rest of the 2009 season.

In 1997 and 1998 Davies was a standout centerfielder and lead-off hitter for the Knights, leading the nation in runs scored and stolen bases while batting .475 in his final year in a QC uniform. He was then drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 23rd and after a brief time in their minor league system, came back to the New York Metropolitan area to play for the fledgling Long Island Ducks.
