Friedman pitches gem but loses to Adelphi, 4-3

Brian Friedman fanned nine and allowed just four hits and one earned run over eight innings of work but lost a 4-3 decision to Adelphi in Garden City on Wednesday. Jared Stoler and Carlos Suarez each had two hits in four at bats for the Knights.
Anielo Napolitano, who led off the game for QC by working out a walk, moved to second when the next batter, David Fisher, singled. Stoler immediately followed with an RBI single through the left side to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Adelphi answered right back in the bottom of the first with a run to tie the score. QC retook the lead in the third when Stoler singled, Suarez doubled and Jeffrey Gomez singled, scoring Stoler. However, Suarez was thrown out at the plate, centerfielder to first baseman to catcher. That would turn out to be a pivotal play because in the last half of the inning Adelphi took advantage of a Knights' error to push across three unearned runs and go ahead 4-2.
The Knights would make it close in the eighth when James Demsky drew a bases loaded walk with teo outs, scoring Suarez to make it a one run game. The potential tying and go ahead runs died on base when Demsky was picked off first base to end the inning.
