Baseball drops a pair in Myrtle Beach

Errors were the downfall of the Knights as they fell to Felician College and Bloomfield College in their 2009 season openers at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Two bright spots for QC were David Fisher and Jared Stoler, each of whom had four hits on the day.
The Knights led Felician 6-4 after 6 innings in the opener before the roof fell in. Arik Abrams, in relief of starter Brian Friedman, was tagged with the loss after being touched for seven unearned runs in the seventh inning. Friedman had struck out five while yielding three earned runs in six innings.
Felician put the game out of reach with 10 more runs in the eighth. Fisher and Matthew Ortiz each hit a two run homer, Luis Rojas had two hits and two RBIs while Stoler and Jeffrey Gomez also went two for four but the offense couldn't compensate for 10 Knights' errors in the loss.
QC fell to Bloomfield, 12-4, in their second game of the day. Fisher led the offense with three hits and two runs scored in five at bats. Stoler added two hits and an RBI and Noel Gerena, Jr. went two for four with an RBI for the Knights, who made seven more errors.
