Nomination Process

The 2013 Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner will be held on Saturday, October 19.  Nominations must be completed no later than May 15 in order to be considered.  In order for a nomination to become official, the following steps must be completed:

1) Nomination must be submitted on queensknights.com/hof.
2) A biography sheet will be sent to the proposed nominee.
3) Proposed nominee must complete biography sheet regarding his/her athletic accomplishments and return to the Athletics Department at:

4) A nomination is official once the Athletics Department receives a completed biography sheet from the proposed nominee.

After the May 15 cutoff date, nominations will be reviewed by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.  Selected Honorees will be contacted in June.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can be nominated?
A: Any of the following individuals:
-Student-Athletes (must have been a full-time student at QC for at least two years and must have been a letter-winner in at least one varsity sport; 5 years must have elapsed since their last season of competition)
-Head & Assistant Coaches
-Athletics Staff Members (ie: Athletics Director, Associate AD, Facility Director, etc.)
-Athletics Team & Event Support Staff (ie: Team Manager, College Sports Writer, Broadcaster, etc.)
-Teams of Distinction (ie: 1989 Football Team) - Note that Teams of Distinction will be Recognized, not Inducted.

Q: Who cannot be nominated?
A: Individuals/groups who do not fall into the categories listed above cannot be nominated.  Additionally, individuals who have been convicted of a felony are not eligible for nomination (though note that a team on which such an individual played is be eligible for recognition).

Q: Can nominations be posthumously bestowed?
A: Yes.  If nominating an individual after he/she has passed away, please include contact information for a family member or close friend who would have the ability to complete the biography sheet.

Q: Can I nominate multiple people/teams?
A: Yes.  You may fill out and submit nomination forms for multiple individuals/groups.

Q: Can I submit multiple nominations for the same individual?
A: No.  Note that as per the "Nomination Process" noted above, upon receiving a nomination for an individual, we will send the proposed nominee a biography sheet which must be completed in order to make a nomination official.  Multiple nominations for a single individual will not increase his/her chance of being selected.

Q: Can I nominate myself?
A: Yes.

Q: I am not a Queens College Alumni.  Can I still submit a nomination?
A: Yes.

Q: What happens to nominations submitted after May 15?
A: Nominations completed after May 15 will be kept on file for three (3) years. Once three years have elapsed, a new nomination must be submitted (and new biography form must be completed) in order to become eligible again for selection.
