COMMUNITY RECREATION

Queens College Indoor Tennis Center

The Queens College Indoor Tennis Center presents a wide variety of tennis options to the Queens Community. We offer open court time seven days a week on our newly resurfaced hard courts at hourly and seasonal rates. Additionally, we provide private and semi-private lessons with our experienced staff.

Alan Landes, Head Pro and Director of Tennis for Queens College, coached the nationally ranked Queens College Men's Tennis team for 25 years and has privately coached nationally ranked collegiate and junior players. In addition, all of our staff pros were highly ranked junior and collegiate players.

Besdies our private services, the Tennis Center offers a variety of classes for all ages and levels. From October through may, Craig Schwartz is Director of the program and ensures the structure and high quality of the services provided by the Tennis Center. Schwartz, the current coach of the Men's tennis team at Queens College, played professionally on the ATP tour before moving on to coaching.

During the summer session, Chris Tasso assumes the responsibility of running the tennis program. Our Little Tennis series accomodates children ages 4-6 by teaching them tennis fundamentals as well as providing them with their first rackets. Older children between the ages of 7-17 can participate in the Junior Program, where they can take beginner, advanced-beginner, intermediate or advanced level classes. The adult classes, for individuals aged 18 and older, are comprised of four separate levels which students are placed in based on skill. All of our classes offer an intimate way to explore the world of tennis and develop a strong skill base. Our Little tennis classes have a maximum of seven children, and all other classes contain a maximum of four students, allowing you to get individual attention, as well as practice playing with peers.
