Victor and David Honig

Brothers Victor and David Honig, members of the Queens College hockey team, were not only standout student-athletes for the Knights, but also known to their fellow QC classmates as some of their most devoted supporters.  Hall of Fame women's basketball player Gail Marquis often recalls how the two brothers, who were phys ed majors, were the women’s team’s greatest supporters and some of the loudest fans in the stands during each game.

Victor was captain of the ice hockey team in the mid-1970s, and one of the toughest and most protective players anyone could ever play with, and possessed an unbelievable booming snapshot.  Victor’s younger brother, David, was a finesse player with an incredible set of hands, who was a natural at almost any sport.

"Victor never bled," said Hall of Famer Doug Ress, "but if he had, it would have been in QC colors."

Victor currently resides in the Tampa, FL area, and has taught physical education for the past 32 years at a high school designed to teach emotionally challenged students affiliated with the Pinellas County Schools.  Since he was a big brother type to many a student-athlete during his time at Queens, its safe to say that generations of kids have now been lucky enough to have Victor as a teacher and role model.  He has been married for 38 years to his wonderful wife Leslie, and they have four children and two grandchildren.

David, also known as "Scooter," is a renowned fitness expert and nutrition consultant, and the CEO of Scooters Extreme Fitness.  He taught physical education for the New York Board of Education for 22 years.  He has trained several collegiate lacrosse players and boxers in strength and conditioning, including current WBA Middleweight Champion and cancer survivor Danny Jacobs, along with serving as personal trainer to LL Cool J, and a host of other celebrities and stars.  “Scooter” has been on the NY Times Bestseller list having co-authored a few exercise, workout and diet books with LL Cool J – known as “The Platinum Workout.”
